Rita Kreuter was born in Manchester, England on March 15, 1928, and passed away in Bellaire, Texas on January 16, 2024. After living through World War II, Rita married her first husband, John Tebbet, in 1947. Their adventure began when they moved to Egypt while John was in the British army before making their way to the United States in 1955. Here, she had three children: Don, Craig, and Hazel.
Rita's professional dedication shone through her over thirty-year tenure at Stubbs Overbeck & Associates, where her roles evolved from receptionist to bookkeeper. It was here that she met and later married her second husband, Marvin Kreuter, and together they wove a blended family fabric with children and grandchildren, cherishing 42 years until Marvin's passing in 2021.
Her legacy is embroidered with the skills she passed down—sewing and crafting to her daughter Hazel, her baking skills to her granddaughter, and a shared passion for music that echoes in the talents of her three musician children.
In addition to her husband Marvin, Rita is now reunited in heaven with her parents, Thomas and Elizabeth Hodson, her sons Craig Tebbet and Don Tebbet, her sister Margaret Lunt, her brother Gerald Hodson, and her stepson Robert Kreuter.
She is survived by her daughter Hazel Donato, stepdaughter Andrea Rankin, sister Lilian Horridge, brother Bernard Hodson, and grandchildren Marlo, Julia, Em, Shae, Adrian, Garrett, and Kathy.
A memorial service will be held Friday, January 26 at 2:00pm at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 4525 Bissonnet St, Bellaire, TX 77401. Viewing will begin at 1:00pm. After the service, the family invites you to join them for refreshments and remembrance in the reception hall. The family wishes to thank the Gardens of Bellaire and their staff for their care during her final weeks.
