Alan was born May 13, 1934 in Houston, Texas. He attended the University of Texas at Austin and then worked for many years in mortgage banking. His greatest passion was music. An adept pianist, Alan was also a cantor and choir member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church for many years, and later a long-term member of the choir of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. He was an expert green thumb, especially when it came to orchids, and he cherished his dogs Megan, Trixie, and Sugar. But his greatest treasure was being a grandparent to his four grandsons.
Alan is preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty-eight years, Shirlee Wedin, his daughter, Lisa Osborn, his parents, Richard Alan, Sr., and Margaret Clarice Wedin, and his sister, Margaret Rogers. He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Wedin, his four grandsons — Christopher Adolph and his wife Erika Steiskal, Robert Brian Adolph and his wife Sandra Knauer, Kevin Osborn and his wife Ruth, and Justin Osborn and his wife Diana — and his three great-grandchildren: Kevin and Ruth's son Cade Osborn and daughter Chloe Osborn, and Christopher and Erika's daughter Freya Adolph. He is also survived by his sister, Karen Langford, his niece Michelle Rogers, and his nephews, Neal Anthony Rogers and Jeff Langford.
Alan's family welcomes either donations to the charity of your choice or flowers, in memory of Alan's love of gardens.
