Richard Eugene Barnett

Richard is survived and missed by his loving wife Debra Barnett (Stringer) of 19 years; and his family, Angela (Damon Erb), Patricia (Jeremy Angleton), Jessica (Tristan Richardson). Forever cherished and remembered by his seven grandchildren, Reagan, Jaxson, Tanner, Caydence, Charlotte, Riley, Baer. Richard’s memory will be honored by his siblings Lisa Hays, Nancy Wiel, Ryan Barnett, and his eleven nieces and nephews. Survived and remembered by his mother and father-in-law, James and Dovie Stringer, and multiple brothers-in-law.

Richard was predeceased by his father, Clarence Gene Barnett, his mother, Laura Medlen, and his sister Laura Denise Mendon.

Richard had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, a strong connection with nature, and above all else a deep love for his family. Richard often spent his spare time researching topics of interest or engaging in conversation with friends, family and even the wait staff at his favorite restaurants. He enjoyed learning about technology and anything his family, especially his grandkids, were involved in. More often than not, Richard could be found cheering for grandkids at ballgames, performances, graduations, and often engaged in a fierce game of cards, or simply listening as they shared their lives and interests with him. Richard’s calming presence is most visible in the way he took time to teach every grandchild how to fish, fly a toy airplane or throw rocks in the pond. Above all else, Richard enjoyed spending time with his wife golfing, cooking, creating a warm and welcoming home, wandering the backyard and planting flowers, plants and shrubs, and simply taking time to enjoy the simple and beautiful things in life together.

Richard was a thoughtful, nurturing and loving person whose generous heart loved big, and whose heart was devoted to loving his wife every single day.

Richard’s legacy will carry on forever reminding us that life is about taking time to enjoy the simple things in life.
