Nancy Wolochin Genson

Nancy Wolochin Genson, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2011. She was born on May 21, 1960, in Brooklyn, New York to Edward and Ruthanne Wolochin. Nancy attended Brooklyn Ethical Cultural School until the family moved to Merrick, NY and then to Houston, Texas. Nancy graduated from University of Texas. She began her teaching career working with visually impaired children in Houston Independent School District and then taught for many years at the Shlenker School where she also served as the school’s first Marketing Director. Most recently, Nancy was a financial consultant and Vice President at Ameriprise Financial. She proudly served on the board of the Ft. Bend Education Foundation and volunteered with the National Council of Jewish Women. First and foremost, Nancy was proud to be the loving and very devoted mother of her two precious children, Rachael and Stuart. Nancy is preceded in death by her grandparents Dr. and Mrs. Sydney Wolochin, her mother Ruthanne Wolochin, her sister Mindy Jo Wolochin, her and great aunt Ann Rosenberg. She is survived by her loving children Rachael M. Genson and Stuart A. Genson, her father Edward Wolochin, her aunt Lucy Paley, cousins Seth and Marc Sholes, Judith and Gary Wendell and great aunt and uncle Mildred and Paul Wendell and many friends and family. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 13, 2011 at Emanu El Memorial Park, 8341 Bissonnet. Donations in Nancy’s memory may be directed to the Ft. Bend Education Foundation or the Houston Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
