Mary Jo Foster Quartaro-Dimicelli age 89, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, was born in Houston on August 2, 1934, daughter of the late Augustus and Lucy (Lanzo) Foster. Mary Jo passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 16, 2023, surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle with a lengthy illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Angelo Quartaro, and their son, Joseph Michael Quartaro, and her sister Rose Marie Marchese.
Mary Jo's surviving family include her husband, Thomas “Tommy” Dimicelli; daughters, Theresa Quartaro, Mary Angela Rossi and husband Joe, Margaret Guzzetta and husband, Sam, Kathy Beaty and husband, Boe, Jeannine Harmon and husband, Alan, and Paula Daigle and husband, David; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Quartaro; brother, A.J. Foster and wife, Rose Marie; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Mary Jo loved nothing more than being with all of her family her children and grandchildren. The happiest times were spent with family and friends, cooking, making Italian cookies at Thanksgiving and Christmas, laughing and telling stories. She enjoyed playing cards (she was a poker shark) Tripoli and canasta and was a member of the Neo Debs Italian Ladies club for many years.
Visitation will be Friday, September 22, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, 11011 Hall Rd, Houston, TX 77089, with a rosary recited at 10:30 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM. A reception at the parish hall will follow the mass. She will be laid to rest at 3:00 pm, at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale St, Houston, TX 77023.
