She always had a smile on her face.  It was my privilege to work with her.

As evidenced by the many writings and wonderful words at her services, Mary Ann or, as we affectionately call her around here, MAC, was truly one of a kind!  I believe God broke the mold when he made her.  She was a TRUE friend and the amazing part about that is that she made EVERYONE feel special in that way, whether she knew you just one day or 20+ years.  To know MAC was to love her.  I like countless others will also miss her wonderful advice (about life, children, work) and her stories about the old Cardiology and reminiscing about old co-workers, etc.  So much I could say about MAC but there's no time or certainly not enough space.  She was here one day and then gone the next and, although I told her “see you later” the day before her surgery, it wasn't a “goodbye”.  It didn't feel like a “goodbye”.  But she lived and died teaching us lessons and her final one to all of us is that TOMORROW IS NOT PROMISED.  Love today.  Live today.  Treat people good TODAY.  Live today like it's your last.  Uplift, don't tear down.  You never know when you will see someone for the last time………THANKS MAC…for the many previous lessons and your parting lesson to us all.  I love you and we will miss you like CRAZY!!  Sleep on until that day when Gabriel will blow his trumpet!  R.I.P.

Mary Ann was a great person and loved by so many people. She was instrumental in the lives of so many Pediatric Cardiology trainees coming through Texas Children's Hospital. She was a true friend and will be missed by all of us.

Mary Ann was a truly wonderful person.  She touched many lives. She was administrative assistant for the Texas Children's Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship program for many years. Her kind help will be remembered by dozens of graduates of our program, who are practicing Pediatric Cardiologists across  the country and around the world and by hundreds of her former colleagues at Texas Children's.  She was always friendly, extremely considerate of others and eager to assist.  She was instrumental in organizing Departmental parties and get-togethers. All of us in Pediatric Cardiology grieve her passing.  We uniformly 
considered her a member of our family.  She set an example of courageous service for us.  Despite serious health challenges in her last years, she insisted on
continuing to work at Texas Children's.  We are deeply grateful for the devotion of her sons, who made it possible for her to come to the office. I vividly remember her cheery greetings from just a few weeks ago. It is hard for me to accept that she will not be there. I am certain that there is a very special place in Heaven for Mary Ann. Mary Ann was a dear friend and honored colleague. She touched the lives of many people - and made every one better!  Her impact on TCH Cardiology was profound. Mary Ann will always be in my heart; we worked together for over 30yrs. and  I will always remember the good times we shared in Cardiology,especially in the earlier years. She was a wonderful person, teacher, and listener- I could go to her about anything and  she would direct me in the right way or make me look at the situation differently. 
Armando, Eddie and Richie please know that your mother was loved dearly and she will never ever be forgotten. May God uplift you all during your loss.

Mary Ann was a great joy to be around at work. I will always remeber our friendship over the 14 years I have been in Cardiology. I was greatly saddened to hear the news. I know her family loved her and took good care of her. My prayers are with the family. I lost my mother a few years ago and know how hard it can be but keep the great memories alive and she will always be there.

MAC was a joy to be around, always loving and caring! She was such a part of the Cardiology family and will be greatly missed.

I met Mary Ann almost 23 years ago when I started working for TCH.  We quickly developed a friendship, and she was a great voice of encouragement in my younger years.  I am very grateful to have known and worked with Mary Ann.  She may be gone, but she will never be forgotten.

Please know how dearly loved Mary Ann was.  I was one of her "fellowship kids" from 2000-2004.  She somehow managed to keep track of all 15+ of us there, and somehow kept all of us on track.
She was deeply loved and will be missed by all of Texas Children's.

She had one of the truest and easiest laughs I have ever heard.

I send my heartfelt condolences to Mary Ann's family. I was fortunate to have worked with Mary Ann during my fellowship at Texas Children's Hospital in the early 90s. She was such a comforting presence and caring soul. I will always be grateful for Mary Ann's warmth, sense of humor, and compassion---qualities I know will live on in her children.

Mary Ann was such a good and caring person! She would always check on me making sure I was ok. She always left me little presents(usually food!) on my desk saying she would always take care of me- I loved her and will miss her so.

Mary Ann was always so warm and welcoming, and I loved hearing her stories about years of TCH fellows and faculty. I will truly miss her.

Mary Ann Cruz was proud of her boys, but also an inspiration, support, and "fellowship mom" to so many.  She will always be my Ma Ma Cruz!

My, MOM I am truly going to miss u. I late talks, your great an crazy advice. I am truly going to miss you. Yes, I am going to do what u have ask of me. LOVE YOU. PLS. Do not try to tell the The Big Man how to run heaven.

I always loved asking Mary Ann about the early days of Texas Children's Cardiology. She loved telling stories about the people she worked with. We will all miss her.

I do not have the words that adequately express my sorrow about her passing. She was a mother a friend and an inspiration to me.

Mary Ann kept the fellowship running. She made sure we were successful. It's hard to imagine what it would have been like without her. She will be missed.

Mando, Eddie and Richie, and family your mom was such a special person to me everyone she met. She and I could never go to lunch without at least 5 people stopping to talk with her and you know she had to say hello to everyone. She had some great stories about you boys, her job and the doctors she worked with and she really enjoyed talking about her grandkids. I am going to miss her phone calls and her smiling face. Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

I am so sorry for your lost. Mary Ann will be truly missed. I know that she is now at peace and I pray for strength, healing and understanding for your family.You have my deepest sympathy....

She is already missed. I will keep her and you all in my prayers for God & his angels to be near to help healing occur.

I will miss her so much! We had so many wonderful conversations about everything!  She has left us with such wonderful stories and good times!

I was so sorry to hear of Mary Ann's passing.  Working with her through out our years here at the hospital was extraordinary. She truly touched TCH lives. Her memory will always remain in my heart.

Words are so inadequate to express what is felt at Mary Ann's death.  She touched the lives of many, especially me.  Her footprints will forever remain on our hearts and souls.  As her sons you know better than anyone how incredible she was! Remember how very much she loved you each and that you boys were her greatest achievement!
