Mary Louise Burnett (Hinds), age 95, of Houston, Texas passed away at Clear Brook Crossing facility in Houston on October 3rd, 2019. Mary was born on February 14, 1924 in the Fort Worth, Texas to Fredrick Carl Hinds and Vera Lucille Roberts Hinds. She graduated from Carter Riverside High School in Fort Worth, Texas, and completed some college courses at San Jacinto Central campus in Pasadena, Texas.
Mary married the love of her life, Marvin Davis Burnett Sr. on October 24, 1942. The couple eventually settled in Genoa, Texas (now Pasadena/Houston), where they raised their 3 children and started their boat business "Burnett Marine". Mary spent a better part of 51 years with Marvin before his passing.
Mary was a life long member of the Church of Christ and taught Wednesday night bible class for over 60 years. Mary loved children, aside from teaching at the church, Mary also handled the infant room at a local daycare, Rainbow Land, and raised her grandchildren, Cherie and John, as well as her great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Justin, Jenna, and Julia.
Mary enjoyed gardening and had a real green-thumb. Her pristine backyard attracted the attention of a local photographer and was used for couples wedding photos. She took great pride in her yard and was exceptional at it. Mary was also and superb seamstress, often making her own outfits and outfits for her loved ones. Mary will always be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother and great-grandmother.
Mary was preceded in death by: Her husband, Marvin Burnett Sr., mother, Vera Roberts Hinds, father, Fredrick Hinds Sr., brother, Fredrick Hinds Jr., and nephew Mike Priest.
Mary is survived by: Her sister Doris Priest, sister-in-law, Jackie Hinds, 3 children, Linda Burnett Patteson, Marvin Burnett Jr. and wife Ruth, and Darrell Burnett, 4 grandchildren Cherie Patteson Williams and husband Lance, John Patteson and wife Kristi, Abi Smith and husband Mike, and Frankie Schipper and husband Stephen, her 7 great-grandchildren, Caitlin Patteson, Justin Williams, Jenna and Julia Patteson, Brooke and Chase Smith, and Brennan and Davis Schipper, and 4 nephews Carl Hinds and wife Paulette, Jack Hinds and wife Diane, Allan Priest and wife Barbara, and Gary Priest and wife Joyce.
Mary was an incredible woman with a heart of gold. Anyone who had the privilege to cross paths with her are truly blessed. Her presence in her loved ones lives will be eternal.
