Mary Ann was born in Great Falls, Montana, while her parents Bettyann and McDan Fraser were stationed there during World War II. Following the war, she grew up in St. Albans, West Virginia, where her father was an independent grocer. Her family moved to Bellaire, Texas in 1956. She attended Pershing Junior High and graduated from Bellaire High School in 1962. She met the love of her life, Ronald Crabb, at Sam Houston State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 1966, and later completed her Master’s Degree. Ron and Mary Ann were married at Bellaire United Methodist Church in 1966 and lived happily together at their home in Houston until Ron's death in 2013. They shared a great love of music, travel, visiting historical sites, and each dedicated their lives to teaching.
Mary Ann was a patient and dedicated teacher with a natural warmth and compassion that put children at ease whenever they were around her. She taught 3rd grade for 34 years in Fort Bend ISD schools until she retired in 2004, and was a member of the Beta Eta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. She was an active and dedicated member of Bellaire United Methodist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir, playing hand bells, teaching the children’s Joyful Noise Ringers, and volunteering in many other areas of the church. She will be remembered for her quick wit and kind heart, and will be deeply missed by friends, family, and all who knew her.
Mary Ann is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Betty Jo and Jim Westphal; her two nieces Kimberly Scott and Kristi Teykl and their husbands, Bradford Scott and Dave Teykl; her grandnephew Breckenridge Scott, and her three grandnieces Audrey Scott, Anna Scott, and Eva Teykl.
