Marilyn Shapiro, of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully at the age of 90, on Tuesday, April 16, 2024. She was born on May 1, 1933 in Manhattan, New York. Marilyn met the love of her life, Franklin Bernard Shapiro when she was eighteen years old. She knew he was the one when they married a year later.
Marilyn was a wonderful mother, friend and good soul. She touched the lives so of many who knew and loved her. Marilyn was always there to talk to you about literally anything, in spite of her significant hearing loss.
She enjoyed mah-jongg, crossword puzzles, reading and watching classic movies and old television shows.
The truly amazing thing about Marilyn is she survived three previous bouts of cancer, before this last episode. She was a true fighter and one of the strongest and courageous women you would ever want to know.
She was an adoring mother, to her daughter, Michelle, who was a dedicated and loving caregiver, and Gary Baum, who was like a son to her. Marilyn always considered Gary's children and grandchildren as family as well. She will also be missed by her grand fur baby, Holly.
Her family would like to thank TJ and his outstanding staff of caregivers at her personal care home. Additionally, a special thanks to Next Level Hospice for their wonderful and compassionate care.
For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers in Marilyn's memory to the American Cancer Society, The Houston Humane Society or the charity of your choice.
Graveside services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, April 22, 2024 at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Parkway. Rabbi Steven M. Gross, officiating.
