Preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Searcy Baker III, son Paul Baker, mother Regina Wendell, father F.J. Petschka, brother Raymond Petschka and sister Gloria Ann Daughtry. Before marriage Lorraine’s vocation was nursing as she completed her studies at St. Joseph’s Infirmary in Houston. Lorraine is best known as the seamstress who could make clothes without patterns for anyone who came to her. She spent many years creating and sewing costumes for the Harvest Highlights at Marian High School in Houston. She committed many years to support the annual bazaars at Holy Ghost Catholic Church by sewing stuffed animals for the fish pond and making doll clothes for the doll booth. Lorraine supported the nuns at the Holy Ghost convent by making sure they had their favorite cake for each of their feast days. She was active with the Ladies Auxiliary as well as the DAV. Lorraine was born in El Campo Texas and after marriage lived in Huntsville, Houston and Bellaire where she resided for 50 years.
Lorraine leaves behind daughters Lida Brodigan, Jane Eubank and Mary Andrews as well as son Searcy Baker and wife Quin, granddaughters Theresa Laffey, Rebecca Brodigan and Annabel Baker, grandsons Eric Eubank and Jasper Garrett, great grandchildren Regan and Adrienne Eubank and many nieces and their families.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church Youth Ministry Adopt a Family, 6502 County Road 48, Manvel, TX 77578 . The family wishes to thank everyone at the Clarewood House, Remarkable Healthcare and CIMA Hospice who watched over and cared for Lorraine as you filled her days with love, respect and dignity of which we will be forever grateful.
