Linda Dunks Harrison, age 69, passed away peacefully in Houston, Texas on Friday, July 20, 2012 after her courageous battle with cancer. A lifelong resident of Houston, she was born June 14, 1943 and graduated from Bellaire High School in 1961. She received her degree in teaching from Stephen F. Austin University in 1965.
Loved by family and friends alike, she was preceded in death by her mother, Lerline Burk Dunks and father, David Henry Dunks. She is survived by her loving husband and companion of over 45 years, Phil David Harrison, her children Dana Louise Harrison and James Richard Harrison and his wife Kathryn Carbone Harrison and all of her granddaughters. She dearly loved her granddaughters Penelope “Penny” Lane MacMoy, Charlotte “Charlie” Rivers MacMoy, Mya Rose Harrison and Abigail Grace Harrison and spent as much time with them as she could.
She is also survived by her brother, Edward “Gene” Dunks, his wife Martha Keith Dunks and their 2 daughters, Mary and Martha. Linda’s passion was the selfless care of others and her loving generosity will be fondly remembered. She was friend to all and mother to all in need; she will be greatly missed.
When Dana and James were in school she was a tireless volunteer and won many awards for her efforts in the public schools. After going back to work when they were in college, she transitioned to the role of full-time childcare provider with the birth of the first of her four grandchildren and continued to watch them as often as possible.
