JOSEPHINE ELIZABETH DECKER (JO BETH), beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who was born in Houston, TX, 7/14/1928 went home to be with the Lord 3/12/2021 at the age of 92. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years John W. ( Jack ) Decker, daughter Marion Louise Adams, son John Michael Decker and parents Stephen A. Davies and Eleanor M. Feser Davies.
Jo Beth was a proud third generation native Houstonian who attended St Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1945. She excelled in both tennis and softball in her youth. Jo Beth’s passion was found in music – she sang in numerous choirs, directed music, played both the piano and organ “by ear” and in her retirement years learned to read music and teach others. Her greatest pride was in her family, whom she dearly loved.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law Diane Decker, son William Matthew Decker, daughter Marjorie A. Huegel and husband John, nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Fri., March 19th from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 4525 Bissonnet St., Bellaire, TX 77401, with a rosary being said at 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 AM on Sat., March 20th at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home with interment to follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Matt Decker, John Decker Jr., Alan Decker, Daniel Decker, Stephen Decker, Adam Meech, Jason Hermis and Kyle Gerardi.
The Decker Family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Village Care Homes, Berean Estate who became extended family and a constant source of love, compassion and comfort through the past fourteen months. “Let not your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am; there you may be also.” The words of Jesus, John 14: 1-3. Go in peace Mom, we love you!!!
