James Robert Ingram, of Houston, Texas, was born February 22, 1932, in Dillon, South Carolina. He passed away peacefully in the early hours of Sunday, December 11, 2022, at his home following a lengthy illness.
James proudly served in the Army for twenty-five years. He started his military career as a cook but found his passion working in orthopedics as a cast technician. After retiring, he moved to Houston, Texas, and worked for Southwest Bone and Joint Clinic for over thirty years.
James served as a deacon at Sharpstown Baptist church and worked with the seniors at Clarewood retirement home. He enjoyed fishing, stained glass working, and working in his yard.
James was preceded in death by his mother, Hattie Magnolia (Powers) Ingram, and his sister, Mildred Foster. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Betty Jean (Taylor) Ingram, and his children Gary (Barbara) Ingram of Corapeake, North Carolina, and Beth (Christopher) Ducker of Sugar Land, Texas. James adored his grandchildren, Stephanie Sabin, Kristine Antonucci, Blake Neffendorf, Hettie Ducker, and Parker Ducker. They affectionately called him “Beau.” He is also blessed with six great-grandchildren.
