Ira B. Crain, 73, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 23, 2017. Ira was a beloved sister. She is survived by two sisters, Donna Burnett and Leanne Burnett as well as Leanne’s children, Alix Halter and Ian Halter. Born in Wichita Falls, Texas, Ira graduated from University of Houston and later passed all 4 parts of the CPA exam on the first sitting. Subsequently, she worked for a big 4 accounting firm before branching out on her own. For awhile she sold a specialized computer program to state governments and universities. Ira did tax filings too but her favorite work was in real estate, particularly commercial real estate. Most importantly Ira had a generous heart, supporting a child in South America, donating to many charities and giving generously to her friends. Ira had a quick wit and had a fondness for history, archeology and trivia. Ira was a unique and very special person. One of the last statements Ira made was to tell everyone she was happy!
Friends and family are invited to gather and share remembrances from six to eight o’clock on Wednesday evening, December 27, at Earthman Funeral Home, 4525 Bissonnet Street, Bellaire, Texas. 77401. The graveside service will be in Evant, Texas where Ira will be reunited with her beloved father and mother, Travis and Yvonne Burnett, in their family mausoleum at the Murphree Cemetery.
