Gregorio N. Rivera, Jr.

Gregorio (Greg) Rivera, Jr., age 91 of Katy and formerly of Houston passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at his home. Greg is survived by his beloved wife Guadalupe (Lupe). This past January 13, 2023 was their 66th Wedding Anniversary.

Gregorio (Greg) was born on November 19, 1931 and the eldest son of Cruz and Greg Rivera of Corpus Christi, Texas. He graduated from high school and thereafter, he proudly enlisted in the United State Army to serve his country. Upon completion of his military service he returned home.

Afterwards, he met the love of his life Guadalupe (Lupe). They joyfully got married and began a new journey and moved to Houston, Texas.

They raised two children, daughter/Lucille Rivera and son/Arnold Rivera (Theresa). Three grandchildren, Greg Rivera (Miranda), Erika Rivera Gutierrez (Reynaldo) and Martin Rivera (Casee). Five great grandchildren, Gideon Rivera, Ferdinand Rivera, Emry Gutierrez, Briella Rivera and Ezekiel (Zeke) Rivera.

Greg worked and retired from Shell Oil and passed his strong work ethics to his family. In his spare time he enjoyed tinkering on cars,and gardening. He was a lover of sweets--especially pan dulce/Mexican sweet bread and of course coffee. Greg never met a stranger and would easily strike up a conversation and make new friends. Greg served as an usher at Corpus Christi, Catholic Church and was a volunteer with the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Greg Rivera—Goyo, Grego, dad, Popo will be missed but not forgotten.

A Rosary for Gregorio will be held Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 4525 Bissonnet St., Bellaire, TX 77401. A visitation will occur Tuesday, June 6, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, 4525 Bissonnet St., Bellaire, TX 77401. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 1:30 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, TX 77038.
