Emil George Nasser

Emil George Nasser passed away on September 10, 2011 in Houston, Texas. Emil was born on June 2, 1919 in Michigan City, Indiana and is survived by his wife and best friend of 67 years, Lelia Marie Nasser, his five children, Susan Turner (and spouse, David Hollrah), Brenda Nasser, Daniel Nasser (and spouse, Karen), Michael Nasser and Peter Nasser (and spouse, Veronica), his six grandchildren, Kate Turner, Josh Turner (and spouse Kathryn), Jessica Streifel (and spouse, Ty), Sarah Nasser, David Nasser and Audrey Nasser, and his first great-grandchild, Killian Streifel.

Emil attended Purdue University in Indiana, graduating in 1942 with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. He began his professional career working for the Shell Refinery located in Wood River, Illinois. After accepting a position with Fluor Engineering, he moved his young family to Houston in March of 1953. Emil worked for several companies in various chemical engineering and project management capacities both in the US and overseas locations including Spain, Turkey and Saudi Arabia. Emil retired in 1985 to his home in Houston. Emil and Lelia traveled the world during his career and continued their joy of traveling after his retirement.

Emil was devoted to his family and his Catholic faith and is remembered for the generosity and support he gave his family and his Church, his fun loving nature and the many moments of pure hilarity and love he gave us all. He particularly enjoyed watching sports, following his investments in the stock market, playing cribbage, doing crossword puzzles, being frugal, never throwing anything away and sharing M&M’s with his 4 year old granddaughter.

Family and loved ones will gather for a visitation at 6:00 pm and Rosary at 7:00 pm, Wednesday evening, September 14 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 9900 Stella Link Rd., Houston, TX 77025. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, September 15 at 11:00 am, also at Corpus Christi Catholic Church.

The family requests donations to Corpus Christi Catholic Church in lieu of flowers.
