Edward Joseph Hodge, age 88, died peacefully November 8, 2014 in Houston, Texas. He was born March 1, 1926 in New Jersey City, New Jersey. Ed served as a Sergeant in the US Army Air Force 368th Bomb Squad from 1944-1946 in France. After the war, he graduated from Tulane University, where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega. Ed worked in the insurance industry in Georgia, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas. As Vice President and General Manager of the St. Paul Insurance Company, he was key in the cleanup of Hurricane Camille, and served as president of many professional associations, including the Property Insurance Association in Louisiana. He lived in Covington, Louisiana for many years prior to moving to Houston.
Ed was predeceased by his parents, Mae E. Reilly and Earl W. Hodge, and survived by his wife, Ruth Lloyd (Rusty) Willett Hodge, daughters Elizabeth Hodge Ronn and Kathleen Hodge Close, son-in-law Karl P. Ronn, and grandchildren Alan Edward Ronn and Juliana C. Ronn.
The family will be holding private memorial services at the Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions in Ed’s name to a local SPCA, the Houston Honor Guard, P.O. Box 2, Cypress, TX 77410, or a charity of choice.
