Colleen was a lifelong Houstonian. She was born in Houston, TX on November 23, 1943. She graduated from Bellaire High School and attended the University of Texas at Austin. While at the University of Texas, she and a friend went on a blind date. That night she met the love of her life, John Guy Corneau, even though he had been set up with her friend! John and Colleen married on July 10, 1965, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. She and John had their son, Casey William Corneau on May 9,1967, and their daughter, Elizabeth Anne on August 31, 1982. During their marriage, John’s work in oil services took the family to live in Tennessee and Dubai.
Colleen embraced her role as wife, homemaker and mom. She was always the first to volunteer as room mother, and she was always quick with a batch of pecan pralines or Moeller’s cookies to teachers, coaches, and classmates of Casey and Elizabeth. Her family was always first and foremost in her heart. She relished the time with her cousins and extended family. Growing up, everyone enjoyed bridge games, game nights, and summers at Lake Travis. At later family get togethers, she always wanted to sit at the kids table because it was so much fun.
Despite several health challenges, Colleen never complained. She faced every day with a positive attitude, a steadfast faith and a bright smile on her face. She always put the needs of others before her own. Heaven has truly gained an “angel”.
Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, William and Theodora Schoolcraft, son, Casey William Corneau, sister, Lou Dillon Schoolcraft Gilpin, sister-in-law, Francine Corneau Henning, and brother-in-law Eddie Smith.
