Charlotte "Lolly" Klein

Lolly leaves behind a legacy of kindness, thoughtfulness, wit, and humor. She treasured relationships with her family and friends more than anything else. Lolly shared so many special memories of her parents, siblings, family, and friends. She has left us filled with many special memories of times with her.

Born February 8, 1932, in East McKeesport, PA, Lolly was the youngest child of Nettie and Harry Shapiro. She moved to Houston, TX, with her family at the age of six months, but was a Texan through and through. She had many fond memories of growing up in Houston with her five siblings, going through school and graduating from San Jacinto High School. After her education, Lolly was an executive secretary at Finger Furniture Company, where she met the love of her life, Herbert (Herb) Klein. They married in Houston at the Rice Hotel in 1955, after a four-month courtship. Lolly and Herb shared a life of love and devotion for 62 years. They were blessed with two children, Leslie and Harry, and three granddaughters, Bayla, Cyra “Coco", and Charlie Ann.

Lolly was devoted to her Real Estate career for many years, then returned to Finger Furniture Company, where she excelled as a saleswoman for over two decades. She formed life-long close friendships and often reminisced on the many happy memories. Lolly would always say, “laughter is the best medicine” and loved to share her wit and humor with everyone. As a talented singer and lover of music, Lolly found great joy in singing out loud whenever and wherever she could. She loved to write and perform personal songs for those celebrating special occasions that would always bring a laugh. She especially enjoyed the game Rummikube and was very competitive, especially when she played against Herb.

Lolly is survived by her daughter Leslie Pidgeon and husband Steven; her son Harry Klein; granddaughters Bayla and Cyra “Coco” Pidgeon, Charlie Ann Klein; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She is predeceased by her husband Herbert Klein; her parents Nettie and Harry Shapiro; her siblings Herbert Shapiro (Jeannette), Sam Shapiro, Florence (Sam) Finger, Wilbur Shapiro, June (Vic) Rogers; and her in-laws Clara and Charles Klein.

Lolly was a devoted and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

A graveside service with livestream for Charlotte will be held Tuesday, January 18, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Beth Yeshurun Allen Parkway Cemetery, 3502 Allen Parkway, Houston, TX 77019. Link for live stream is in the services section below. Please be aware that facemasks are required for attendance at this graveside service.

If you are driving east on Allen Parkway (toward downtown) you need to continue on Allen Parkway past the cemetery and exit Allen Parkway to the right at Waugh Drive. Then just before you reach the light at Waugh Drive, you can make a U-turn to get onto the lanes of Allen Parkway going west (away from downtown). When you reach the entrance to the cemetery, you can turn right into the cemetery.

Starting Monday, January 17, 2022: You must approach the cemetery traveling westbound on Allen Parkway. After the curve past Waugh St. you will see a large brown sign "Lost Lake Park". Turn right into the park. The cemetery gates are on the left. This all comes up quickly. Move slowly so you do not miss the turn. If you do you will need to go around the block.
