Charles Clifton Willis Jr., age 78, died at home on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 after a long, courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was born on September 30, 1940 in Aruba, Dutch West Indies, to Charles C. Willis Sr. and Marjorie Burney Willis of Texas. He lived most of his life in Houston, Texas.
After graduating from Milby High School in Houston 1958, and the University of Houston in 1962, he went on to serve in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Versailles, France.
A Houston area resident for over 70 years, Charles C. Willis Jr. was an accomplished freelance artist at his own business, Chuck Willis Studio. He worked with the many area home builders during the 1970’s to 1980’s to provide architectural renderings and commercial advertising services for Houston’s growing surrounding neighborhoods. Later, he worked and retired from Continental/United Airlines.
He enjoyed the outdoors, was an avid bird watcher, and had a great respect for all of nature. He was very athletic, and liked to watch and play sports, especially track, baseball, and football. He lived to see the Astros win a World Series…. In addition to his talents in art and sports, he was a history buff, and a patient, responsible, and thoughtful son, husband, brother, and dad.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Susan C. Willis, his sister, Mrs. Anngel Duncan of Friendswood, his daughter, Victoria Willis and a host of other loving family and friends.
