Born in Towson, Maryland September 30, 1973, Rob was the cherished eldest son of Kim and Mary Anne (Ottinger) Frounfelker. He graduated from Bel Air High School where he participated in lacrosse and soccer, serving as co-captain of the varsity soccer team his senior year. He continued his education at the University of Maryland, College Park earning a degree in Criminal Justice. After attending the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, Georgia, he served two years as a United States Capitol Police Officer in Washington, DC. He returned to FLETC in the fall 2001 to become an agent for United States Customs and Immigration, now Department of Homeland Security (DHS). While serving at the port of Chicago, Rob was a member of the Special Response Team. To be closer to his family, in 2008 Rob transferred to the Baltimore office of DHS where he was proud to support his country as a Special Agent.
Rob enjoyed spending time with his family, especially watching his daughters’ swim meets, volleyball, lacrosse, and soccer games. He was a Cowboys football fan, but, in his capacity as DHS Special Agent, was happy to work security at Ravens home games. Rob enjoyed mountain biking with his brothers. He had a very special connection with Jeeps – he met his wife when he parked his Jeep Wrangler behind hers. Rob and his lifelong friend, Nate, attended several Jeep rallies including a “Save the Tatas” rally to benefit Breast Cancer.
Survivors include -- adored daughters Kailey Rae and Sara Renee Frounfelker; dear brothers Erich Frounfelker and wife Amy, Michael Frounfelker and wife Teresa, and Bradley Frounfelker and wife Patricia; much loved nieces and nephews Olivia, Madelyn, Catherine, Taryn, Caitlyn, Scott, Mia, Molly Joey, Morgan, Emily, and Samantha; in-laws John and Pat Palasek, Patti and Steve Buckmaster, and David Palasek. Rob is also survived by uncles, aunts, and cousins who will miss him, as well as his devoted best friend for life, Nathan Paul.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Schimunek Funeral Home of Bel Air on Tuesday July 12th from 1:30-4:30 for visitation. A Celebration of Life service will be held 4:30-5:30. .
