Lucky are the people whose lives were touched by Richard. The man who exemplified being a good husband, father, neighbor and a thoughtful friend.  His faith was unquestioned as he lived it out by his actions, that did not require words.  We will miss Richard's neighborhood updates, advice and words of wisdom. . . "Do you understand?....I don't get it!.....it's perfect - do you understand - perfect!"   Those we love never die; they live forever in our hearts.

Virginia and Family:  So sorry to hear of Richard's passing.  Many memories singing with him in the choir at Grace and St Johns Lutheran churches. My wife & I got to know Richard and his family when we first moved to the same neighborhood in 2008.  One of the first things Richard said to us was that if we ever needed help or garden equipment, to let him know.  We took him up on the offer many times!  We'll always remember Richard tooling away in his garden, planting bulbs, offering extra tomatoes and him lying on the ground picking weeds.  He was a great gardener and we always enjoyed the beauty of his work!  We'll miss him taking charge during the winter blizzards, snow blowing & helping everyone out.  He was very kind, generous, thoughtful, funny and always had a smile!  He will be missed.

Dear Virginia - I was so sad to hear about Richard. I remember him with a smiling face and lots of humor. It has been so many years, but I hope you know you are in my heart and my thoughts at this saddest of times.

Wow...where to start..I will sure miss Richard. Always told it like it is. I'm so glad I had the pleasure to call him a true friend. Always there to help you out whether it was cooking , gardening or just life problems. My fondest memory was just last Thanksgiving. Cooking was an art to Richard. My father got the pleasure to meet Richard and his family. He was so impressed with Richards carving of the turkey. Nothing left on the bones. Will never forget  the many Preakness parties. I truly think he had something going on with Chris Towend..Really...how many years can the same person win?

We've only had the pleasure of knowing Richard for the last five years since moving in next door, but what a blessed five years its been for us.  It didn't take long for us to see love he had for his family, his friends and even his neighbors.  There is no denying that he truly was one-of-a-kind. We feel truly blessed to have moved in right next door and never had a worry in the world because we always knew Richard was watching over the house for us. From dropping off a bouquet of flowers from his beautiful garden for our children's birthday parties to getting us the largest pumpkin we've ever seen for our front porch, he was always so thoughtful and kind.  Words cannot express how much we will miss the man in the apron, the man in the garden, and the man who gave us so many happy memories.  He will forever be in our hearts.  All our love to Virginia & family. We love you all so much.

I have so many wonderful memories of Richard... He has always been in my life .. He was there the day I was brought him from the hospital & named nick-named me "Ady the Lady"... Our families spent lots of holidays together .. Christmas Day, Easter Sunday, summer barbecues and crab feast.. I'll never forget the big Easter egg hunts he used to do for all of us kids & The time my dad gave me a $50 to hide in one of my eggs so We could trick Richard into thinking he accidentally put a 50 Dollar bill in one of the plastic eggs .. I will never forget his reaction!! He was there when I first learned to ride my bike without training wheels ... He helped me write my school paper on Norway and baked those delicious Norwegian cookies I have always loved for my entire third-grade class! He was there when I celebrated my "Sweet 16" and he was there when I walked down the aisle on my wedding day and surprised me at my reception by coming out dressed as one of the village people dancing to the YMCA! Richard has been there with me from the day I was born and every important day in between.. I am grateful for all of the memories I have and I will cherish them forever!! Richard I will miss you dearly and you will always be in my heart!!!

So many beautiful memories included in the photos. They showed happy times, a true love of family & friends, traditions, hobbies & such a vibrant personality. I only met Richard a few times during his brief life, but each time we met he was jolly and as happy as he could be.  I know that his family will miss him dearly. He will always be watching over you to protect you and to keep you safe.

I am so glad that he had so many years with the love of his life.  From that came his two beautiful children.  I am Blessed to even share his birthdate.  Richard you will be missed.

We will truly miss Richard. He was always a great conversationalist, knew things that no person should know, always had a smile on his face, and who else would let us pick the winning horse for the Preakness party every year. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

I'll always remember Richard sitting on his stool hanging out in the garage BBQ'ing or out planting/weeding the front driveway garden. He also bought me gardening tools when I first moved in - I  think he couldn't believe what a novice I was, ha! He will be missed. My thoughts to Virginia and the entire family.
