Patricia Ann Gilland

Patricia Ann Gilland, age 68, of Abingdon, MD passed away on Wednesday October 4, 2017. Patricia was born January 14, 1949. She was born in Harford County Maryland and was a lifelong resident. She was a dedicated and proud mother and a proud member of the Auxiliary of MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center and served as its president since April 2016, she served as a member of the MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center Foundation Board. She worked for more than 30 years at Franklin Square and, upon retirement, she continued to stay and work as a volunteer. She was a good friend to countless people, her dedication as a volunteer was deeply appreciated, and her service to others inspired and encouraged many.

With her work as President of the MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center Auxiliary, she was able to help raise and pledge 1,000,000 to the new Surgical Pavilion. After leaving Franklin Square, she then decided to join her sons at the C. Miller Excavating Company until she retired. She even found time in her busy schedule to become president of the Home Coming Project in Bel Air, MD and she was a 35-year member of Al Anon. She was a dedicated member of Mountain Christian Church. She also enjoyed motorcycle rides with her husband Bruce.

Patricia is survived by her husband, Bruce Gilland; son Christopher Miller; daughter-in-law Michelle Miller; son Matthew Miller; and daughter-in-law Ginger Miller; her step-son Adam Gilland and sister Joanne Lohrey, Debbie Hutchinson, Michael Casimo; grandchild Joshua Olney and his wife Amanda, grandchild Jacob Miller, grandchild Zachary Miller, grandchild Noah Miller and grandchild Parker Miller her great grandchildren Maddison, Hayden, Mia and Olivia. Her brothers Anthony and Joseph Casimo preceded Patricia in death.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Schimunek Funeral Home of Bel Air, Inc., 610 W. MacPhail Road (at Rte 24) on Monday, October 9 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm. a funeral service will be held the same evening at 8:15 pm. Interment services are private.
