Marian "Peggy" Virginia Ely

Born Marian Virginia, but known by everyone as Peggy. Born in Perryman, MD, daughter of the late Mathus Burton and the late Una Burton. Preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Gordon L. Ely.

Survived by daughters, Darlene (Scott), JoAnn, and Laurie (Joseph), grandchildren, Chrissy, BJ, Sarah, Lynn, and Daniel and great-grandchildren, Matthew, Regan, Nolan and Audrey.

She was member of St Peter’s Lutheran Church in Fullerton, MD.

Peggy was a graduate of Kenwood High School and Strayer Business School. She worked at Glen L. Martin before retiring to be a loving full time Mom. Once her children grew up, Peggy became a daycare provider, working at Merri Day/Friendship, KinderCare and APG.

Peggy was an expert seamstress and made the very best shell-free crab cakes, after hand-picking the Gordon-caught crabs. Throughout the years, she enjoyed bowling, bingo, crocheting, traveling and dining out with the Red Hat Ladies.

She was deeply loved and will be sincerely missed.

A graveside service for Peggy will be held Friday, May 5, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Gardens of Faith Memorial Gardens, 5598 Trumps Mill Rd., Baltimore, MD 21206. (Garden of Wisdom)
