Joe was a dear friend whom I knew and worked with for over 30 years. I remember the Pernell Village Apartments fire early on in my career where an entire apartment building burned right down to the foundation. Joe relieved the night shift that morning; his first multiple alarm as a newly promoted Battalion Chief. May our Dear Lord grant him eternal peace and eternal life. My sincere condolances to his family at this most difficult time.

Chief Spadaro was one fine gentleman!!!  My husband worked under him in BCFD for many years .... in fact, he even came to our home one time to visit.  We just LOVED him and was soooo sad to hear of his passing....We have inquired about him various times but to avail.....We're sooo sorry we missed his service. My sympathy to the family and friends of Chief Spadaro. I was fortunate to have worked with him during his service to the Fire Dept. and always found him to be thoughtful and a gentleman to all.

Joe was a great man to work for. Always a gentleman. If one required a reprimand, he made your feel good about it  when He was done. He will be missed. My sincere condolences to the family.

Mr. Joe worked with my father, Capt John Harvey, and was great friends with my parents. They often traveled together. Mr. Joe always had a smile on his face. When my father died and we needed some help getting a uniform, Mr. Joe was there to help. During my own cancer treatment- he called me to see how I was doing. The Harvey family sends our deepest sympathy to the entire Spadaro family. Mr. Joe will always be in my prayers.

Chief Spadaro was a Great man to work for. First he treated all with respect. He was a Gentleman and I felt so lucky to have worked for him and know him.

As a young firefighter, it was my great honor and privilege to work for Chief Spadaro. He was a consummate professional who led by example, and he was loved and respected by all who knew him. I hope the high esteem in which he was held will comfort his family at this difficult time, and I will keep them in my thoughts and prayers.

Chief Spadaro always looked out for his men and treated them with respect. At a time when emergency vacations were rarely granted for more than one day at a time, I called him to ask for an emergency vacation for a man whose child was undergoing surgery. He quickly approved and said, “Make sure you give that man the entire shift. He needs to be with his family.” He was a true gentleman who never forgot where he came from. My condolences to his family.

I came to know Joe Spadaro by working for him as a rookie firefighter. Although many ranks and quite a few years of age separated us he always treated me with respect and professionalism. I learned a great deal from him. Thank you, Chief Spadaro for your counsel and sharing your knowledge with me. My condolences to the Spadaro family....

Joe Spadaro was one of six Deputy Chiefs that I worked for in the 1980's & 90's.  A true Officer and Gentleman!  My deepest sympathy to his entire family.
