Rich is survived by his wife, Michele Ann Bracken Bucey; his son Christopher Richard Bucey and his wife Erryne Bucey.
Rich was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Betty Marie Endrich (Michael Steven Endrich) and his father and stepmother, Edward Lewis Bucey (Genevieve Bucey).
Richard enjoyed traveling and competing in bowling tournaments all across the United States, watching PBA Bowling, Golf, and all Baltimore Orioles, Ravens games, and his visits to the Harford County Humane Society.
Richard “Mudcat” worked at Armco Specialty Steel for 19 plus years, where he worked up the meltshop ranks until plant closed. He also was a commercial truck driver. He drove for several companies like Graybar, Jetsort, Glen Burnie Hauling- USPS, and Ryder Logistics. Rich also spent some time at Walmart in Fallston, MD as an associate in frozen foods.
Richard has been recognized for numerous bowling accomplishments. A few of them include the Maryland State Hall of Fame, Greater Baltimore USBC BA Hall of Fame - both for Superior Performance in 2010, Cecil Harford USBC BA Hall of Fame in 2015. Other championship titles earned in various years are from the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA), Greater Baltimore Bowling Association, Cecil Harford Bowling Association, PA State Bowling Association, York-Adams USBC, The National Bowling Association (TNBA), Bowl America Topper Classic, and Team USA- Maryland State Champion. Rich posted the first Greater Baltimore Bowling Association 200 annual yearbook average in 1965-66.
Visitations will occur on Friday, March 10, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Schimunek Funeral Home of Bel Air, 610 W. MacPhail Rd., Bel Air, MD 21014. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 11:00 am.
