on Thursday, July 24, surrounded by his wife and family following a long
illness with Parkinson's disease. He had just recently celebrated his 85th
birthday on July 3. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Margaret
(Venable) and Earl Ivory McMillan, Sr. Earl was a renaissance man and enjoyed
world travel, literature, poetry, and music. He served in the US Marine Corp
during the Korean War, graduated from the University of Baltimore School of Law,
was a member of the Maryland State Bar Association and was an attorney in the
Baltimore City Solicitor's Office for forty years. He was a communicant at St. Margaret's
Church in Bel Air and member of the Bel Air Council Knights of Columbus. He was a loyal
husband, loving father and devoted grandfather and great grandfather, who held his
friends close to his heart and will be missed by all who knew him. Earl is survived by his
loving wife of 59 years, Anna Marie McMillan (Schlegel); daughters Jeanne Thomas and
her husband Rick, Claire McMillan and her husband Bruce, and the late
Barbara McMillan (deceased on May 14, 2014) and her husband Roger. He is also survived
by his sisters Maggie Turner and the late Dolores McMillan Evans. He will be lovingly
remembered by his grandchildren Matt, Kate, Andrew, Emily, Alex and Will, and
great grandson David.
