We loved Don.  There was no beating round the bush with Don.  You always knew where you stood.  His tenacity with his health care and exercise regimen was commendable.  

Mr. Don (as I always called you) I met you when I was only 6 years old. Throughout my life you were there, at my high school gradation, my college gradation, my wedding, the baptism of both of my children. You took me to Disney World for the first time.  You helped my family and my Mother I’m so many countless ways. You were a voice of reason when I needed advice. You were support when it was needed.  Even when you were not well you made the trip with Mr. Richard to visit us when were in Ocean City visiting. Thrasher’s French fries and Dumser’s ice cream were a staple on your visits.  You were one of the strongest and kindest human beings that I was so blessed to have in my life. You lived life to the fullest and blessed everyone that you graced your presence with. Thank you for loving me, loving my girls and loving my family. I will forever carry you in my heart.  Sending prayers to your family and friends  of healing and peace.

I first met Don when he became an auditor for the Sales Tax Division with the State of Maryland back in 1967.  We became friends as we shared many conversations about our future for our work careers and personal dreams.  Over the years, we made many memories together. One of my favorite stories about Don and I was the time that we started to collect money for our soft ball team uniforms in the lobby of the State of Maryland office building on Preston Street. It got to the point that the Baltimore Police had to be called and had us stop so we were not arrested for soliciting.  Linda, my wife, and Beverly became  a pair together as we went out to dinner. Skipping about 30 years, Don and I both retired from the State of Maryland in September, 1996. After our retirement, we still remained close friends and usually met for lunch several times during the year. I was always amazed that he kept 3 or 4 cars, just in case one of them did not start and had over 5 computers in his house. Even with all of his health issues, he kept on exercising 3 or 4 times a week at the gym.
I will certainly miss him.

We met Don through our cousin John Janny from Odenton MD.  They had been work buddies, then became travel friends.  Their bond was like two crazy brothers.  Don was such a support to us when John pass in 2019.  He became part of our extended family.  We will always remember Dons "shoot from the hip" opinions, his long conversations on any topic, and his great laugh.  We'll miss you, will always remember you, and we wish you "Happy Trails"....

I remember when Aunt Sylvia died Claudia said to Don “thanks for sharing your mother with us”. And I want to echo that sentiment now.  It must have been overwhelming for him at 9 or 10 to go from only child to one of 5.  Don always remained steadfastly loyal to the family, showing up at every event and taking great interest in everyone.  It was his way of saying he cared. 
I also want to thank Don for reacquainting us with Beverly.  It has been so nice spending time with her during his illness.

Don loved to play Screw Your Neighbor. It is a card game that we played at every family gathering. Don was the first one at the table to play. 
We will miss you at the table and think of you fondly when we play. 
John loved it when the two of you took off for the casino. You always compared notes on the way home. You were his Las Vegas buddy. He will miss you.
