Deanna “Dee” Scurti, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 3, 2024 surrounded by her children at the age of 83. Dee lived a vibrant and happy life. Her smile and sense of humor was infectious to all around her. She loved entertaining, traveling and most of all being around her husband of 65 years, her three children, and grandchildren. Dee’s life was rich with experiences and laughter. She loved going to the theater, playing scrabble and card games.
Growing up she was raised by her mother, Frances “MIMI” Ekovich with her two brothers, Ronald and Steven. Sadly, Stevie passed away at an early age.
She met her husband, the love of her life, Frank at the age of 17 in February 1957, on a Sunday afternoon when her grandmother called out to her “Tuttie, I want you to meet someone”. She was immediately taken by a tall thin guy with dark curly hair and a really cute smile. She was smitten at first sight. By chance they met again at Hollywood Park. Shortly afterwards they dated and every morning Frank would show up at her house to take her to work. He proposed on May 10, 1958 and they married on November 2, 1958 spending the next 65 years together.
Shortly afterwards her children were born, Kim in 1960, Mark in 1963 and Stefanie in 1969.
Dee was very involved with her sorority, The Alpha Lambda Chapter, where she knew how to throw a fundraiser event. Mirroring the birthday and anniversary events she would throw, which were always bigger than life, she was able to host her last fundraiser right before Christmas where she treated the attendees with a visit from St. Nicholas.
Dee is survived by her beloved husband, Frank D. Scurti; her children Kimberly Glos and her late husband Joseph, The Honorable Mark F. Scurti and his husband Michael Myers, and Stefannie McLay and her husband Andrew; loving grandmother of Chelsea and Marcus, Emily and Ryan, Joseph and Morgan, Mike, Matt, Wiley, Jack and Benjamin; loving sister of Ronald Ekovich and his wife Diane. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
A visitation for Deanna will be held at Schimunek Funeral Home, 610 W MacPhail Rd, Bel Air, MD 21014 on Friday, February 9, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Where a Funeral Service will be celebrated on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 10am. Followed by Entombment at Parkwood Cemetery.
