Rowena Hess, age 90, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023. Rowena was born in St. John's, Canada to the late Caroline "Nan" (Granter) Hutchings Downey and Roland Hutchings. She is also preceded in death by her step-father, Allison Downey; husband, Edward D. Hess Jr; daughter, Toni Hess; and sister and brother-in-law, Marion and Jack Tucker. She attended Southport Presbyterian Church prior to her illness. Rowena was a devoted wife and mother, spending her time and love caring for her family. She was especially fond of the grand and great grandchildren. As she went about her day and chores she was almost always singing or humming a tune as she loved music.
Rowena is survived by her children, Edward "Butch" Hess (Linda), David Hess (Vickie), and Rebecca "Becky" Hess; 5 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
Visitation for Rowena will be held Tuesday, March 28, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Little & Sons Funeral Home, 1301 Main St, Beech Grove, Indiana 46107. Her Funeral Service will be Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Little & Sons Funeral Home with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood, Indiana.
