Mary Lou graduated from Tompkinsville High School in 1960.
Mary Lou worked for years at RCA before becoming a custodian for Washington Township schools. She retired from working at North Central High School in 2008.
While she loved her work, the simplest things in life brought great joy to Mary Lou. She was a longtime member of South Keystone Church of Christ. She also had many hobbies including dancing, playing cards, going to the movies, and watching game shows. While she was a wonderful cook, she also enjoyed going out-to-eat and socializing with friends. Mary Lou loved music and was an avid fan of Elvis Presley and her favorite band was ZZ Top. Mary Lou adored dogs and leaves behind her best friend, Lola.
Mary Lou embodied the best qualities: unconditional love, strength of spirit, and unending generosity that could be seen in her care for her children, grandchildren, family, and friends.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents Clint W. Murphy and Effie Jane Cloyd-Murphy, as well as her siblings: Jackie Murphy, Paula Murphy, Stanley Murphy and Pete Murphy.
She is survived by her son Tony Clements (Connie Clements); her sister Ann Russell (Wallace Russell); her grandchildren: Angel Zinser (Andrew Zinser), Summer McDonald (Dustin McDonald), Ashlee Odom (Chuck Odom), Jamey Oskins, Tony Clements, Kara Clements and her companion Jim Lloyd.
