Joseph Anthony Gilliland

Joseph Anthony Gilliland, age 78, of Beech Grove, Indiana passed away on Friday, June 23, 2023. Joseph was born in Beech Grove, Indiana to the late Eileen (Weishart) Gilliland and Joseph Gilliland. He is also preceded in death by his grandson, Chad Gilliland. Joe owned Sheet Metal Models, Inc. and was a highly regarded basketball referee working his way all the way in to the Big 10. As a Beech Grove graduate, he stayed active with the school and athletics supporting the community in any way he could. He was a member of the former Woodside Methodist Church and the Beech Grove Masonic Lodge #694 for over 50 years. He served as Grand Master and was a member of the Murat Shriners. Joe is survived by his son, Tony Gilliland (Jennifer); significant other, Red Anderson; grandchildren, Courtney Hack (Brendan) and Claire Gilliland; great grandchildren, Harper Anne Hack and Elsie Chandler Hack; and sisters, Patty Abbott (Carl) and Susie Emberton. Visitation for Joe will be held Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Little & Sons Funeral Home, 1301 Main St, Beech Grove, Indiana 46107. His Funeral Service will be Friday, June 30, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood, Indiana.
