84, passed away peacefully at home Jan. 14, 2012. He was born in Clinton Co. Kentucky to the late Joseph and Grace Shipley. John was a Veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict, and was a licensed plumber for St. Francis Hospital for over 30 years.
He is survived by his loving wife Maxine Shipley of 59 years; daughter Joyce McGuire, North Vernon; son Steve Shipley, Monrovia; grandchildren Jason McGuire, Amber Elsner, Ryan and Dustin Shipley; 7 great grandchildren; sisters Flossie Harrison, Christine Burks, and Betty Poynter; and brother Grady Shipley. John was preceded in death by brothers Guy and Bill Shipley.
