Jerry W. Stafford, 68, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away peacefully in the home of his brother and sister-in-law on December 24, 2016. He is resting in his forever, heavenly home with our brother Jesus, reunited with his son Don Wayne Stafford and other family members who have passed on.
He was retired from Chemical Leman. He worked as a professional truck driver. He was proud that in spite of many obstacles, he became a safety, training instructor for other truck drivers.
He was preceded in death by his parents Walter Stafford and Inez Reynolds Bishop; his brothers Eugene Stafford, Freddie Stafford and Roger Stafford; his sister Linda Bishop Davidson; and his son Don Wayne Stafford.
He his survived by his sons Erik Stafford and Taylor Stafford; his daughter, Rayleen Stafford; Taylor’s son Brenden; brothers Larry Stafford and David Bishop; sister in-laws Marie Stafford, Barbara Ward Bishop and Diane Johnson; and sister Mary Bishop Bobbitt and brother-in-law Andy Bobbitt.
A memorial service will be held at the home of his brother David Bishop at a later date.
The family requests that those wishing to honor his passing consider donating to a charity of choice or donating a book to any library or school library. He was fond of the song by Louie Armstrong titled “What a Wonderful World”. There is a book based on that song titled, What a Wonderful World by Bob Thiele & George David Weiss.
Jerry had great admiration for Mother Teresa and would encourage others to,
“Seek not to do great things but rather seek to do small things with great love.”
