James "Jim" Waters

Rev. James E. Waters, 90, of Franklin, IN, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at the Otterbein Health Center in Franklin, IN. He was born October 4, 1931, to William J. Waters and Mary H. (Peare) Waters in Muncie, IN. He was a graduate of Muncie Central High School in 1950, a graduate of William Jewel College in Liberty, MO, in 1954, and a graduate of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY, in 1957 with a B.D. degree. He later earned his STM from Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, IN.

Jim married Wilma C. (Roorda) Waters on June 30, 1959. He pastored churches in Kokomo, IN, Garrett, IN and New Bethel Baptist Church in Wanamaker, IN.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma Waters, two daughters, Jakala Greig, and Twyla Waters, one grandson, James K. Greig IV, (Anna) and one great-granddaughter, Isabelle Anne Greig. Also surviving is his brother Donald Waters (Kathryn) of Elgin, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary Alice Brannon.

A Celebration of Life service will be held in New Bethel Baptist Church, 8936 Southeastern Ave., Wanamaker, IN on Friday, January 21, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. with visitation at the same location on Thursday afternoon from 4:00 to 6:00. Burial will be in Muncie.
