Memories don't do justice for me, because time is a cruel mistress. I wish I could say that I remember Dave better, but I cant. I know that he was a good man, a great father and a wonderful husband. I am saddened to hear of his passing; I wish I would have been able to reconnect with him. I attribute so much to him, for helping to raise me and love me. I miss him and hope that I get to see him again one day. Attached is a photo of me, grown up. I know David would be proud of the man I've become.

I was thinking about David & all of you a few weeks ago & searched for Janice on FB.  I started to send her a message & received the message she sent me telling me that David had died. I was in shock!! You are all in my prayers & I think about you all every day. David was a wonderful man & daddy to my children during the 10 years we spent together. I remember the time we spent together with very fond memories. He was loved by everyone he met!  He is missed by all of us.

Well, there was a mass said this morning in your honor.  Yesterday ( your b'day) you would have been 48!!  You still had so many more years to enjoy life but it seems God had some different plans.  Even though you never had any children of your own, you now have 3 little ones to keep an eye on.  Doris, Bobby and Samantha.  Make sure they know how much you all are loved.

Its now been over a month since you left us.  I still cry at night thinking of you. You would have been so excited with all of the celebration going on with the super bowl here in Indy.  But I am sure you have a front row seat!!!!!  I love you so much and miss you so terribly.

For those of you who don't know me, my name is Kristy, and I am Dave's niece.  When I was asked to read a few passages from the Bible, I turned to Romans, which was my book of choice following the death of our daughter Samantha.  In his letter to the Romans, Paul speaks about the fall of humanity to sin, and our desperate need for Jesus as our savior.  
In Romans 5:2-8 Paul talks about peace and joy, and states:

“…we rejoice in the hope and the glory of God.  Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance character; and character, hope.  And hope does not disappoint us because God has poured out his love in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

You see, just at the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.  Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Paul tells us that in the future we will become, but until then we must overcome.  Overcome the difficulties that help us grow.  We rejoice in suffering, not because we like pain, or we ignore the tragedy that we have endured, but because we know God is using life's difficulties to build our character, and our hope in Him.  In times when we find ourselves consumed in our grief, asking the paralyzing question of “God, why did you take this person from my life?” Romans 8:37-39 gives us comfort to know that:
“…in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.  For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

David's life may not have been the easiest; suffering and grief were present from an early age.  But because of that suffering, his life showed perseverance, character, and hope.  It has been said that “pain is a reminder to the heart that this is not our home,” and by accepting Jesus as our savior through God's amazing grace, we realize that we are never truly separated from those we love.

Your brother was a good man. I didn't know the David of old, that I heard about in camp fire stories. The man I knew was a passionate, caring, white shoe wearing, friendly, funny, sometimes streaky corn hole player. I'm am happy to say that I knew him and that I am a part of your family. David will be greatly missed. My prayers are with you all.
