Darlene Scutt Wood

Darlene Collins Scutt Wood, age 82, of Beech Grove, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022. Darlene was born July 9, 1939, in Toledo, Ohio to the late Dorothy Collins Szeles & Harold Collins. Darlene graduated from Emmerich Manual High School in 1955. She went on to experience many career ventures. She worked on the capsule assembly line at Eli Lilly and was a District Manager for Bee-Line and Queens Way. She eventually decided that she wanted to stay at home and focus on raising her children. At this time she became very involved with the Beech Grove Community. She became a School Bus Driver for Beech Grove Schools and provided enjoyable transportation to students and athletes alike! Eventually, she would drive a bus for Noble Industries, assisting mentally and physically challenged clients. Darlene worked for Noble Industries for 30 years. She moved into the role of an instructor where she would take the crew out to assigned businesses to clean their properties. She also worked at improving the skill-sets of her clients and prepare them for successful employment outside of the Noble network. Darlene also worked for Amtrak/Grey Hound and Expo Bowl, where she met the love of her life, Danny Wood. Darlene never met a stranger and enjoyed chatting with everyone! She loved to boat on Lake Monroe and attend her grandchildren's sporting events and extracurricular activities. She was fiercely competitive, especially while playing Euchre and Tripoly. Darlene loved dogs and was partial to her own fur-babies, KC, Holly, Red and Winnie. She enjoyed spending time with family and loved to have everyone together during the holidays. She also enjoyed sewing, gardening, knitting, bowling and crocheting. Darlene is survived by her loving husband of 32 years; Danny Wood, children; Rusty (Lisa) Scutt, Kathryn (John) Moore, Kellie (Bill) Trieloff and Brian (Kathy) Wood, Grandchildren; Samantha (Jaron) Hathaway, Bailey Scutt, Butch (Brooke) Moore, Maxx and Zach Moore, Austin (Laurie) Meng, Emily (Mark) Bennett and Connor and Charlie Wood, great-grandchildren; Kai Hathaway, Mia, Miles and Maddox Moore, Landon and Hayden Meng and Eleni Bennett. Darlene is preceded in death by her mother; Dorothy Collins Szeles, father; Harold Collins, brothers; Richard and James Collins, along with her four-legged babies; KC, Holly, Red and Winnie. A Memorial Gathering will be held at Little and Sons Beech Grove Chapel on Saturday, February 26, 2022 from 11:00am-1:00pm.
