95, of Indianapolis, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2011. He was born November 1, 1915 in Bloomfield, IN to the late Guy and Nellie Burch. He attended Rose-Poly/Purdue University. Bernie was employed by New York Central/Penn Central Railroad. He was an accomplished artist and participated in the Indianapolis Art League. Bernie enjoyed fishing, golfing, playing guitar, and he was a published poet. He was also a member of the Acton Baptist Church and sang in the choir. Bernie is survived by his daughters, Peggy Sleeth, Janet Coleman (James), Sylvia Mohler (Harry), and Elizabeth Burch; sister, Aubrey Clayton; grandsons, James Coleman III (Danielle) and Jonathan Coleman (Alison); great granddaughter, Margaret “Maggie” Coleman; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Evelyn Burch; son, Bernard Darwin Burch; brother, Guy Leslie Burch; and son-in-law, Jack Sleeth. Visitation is Monday, May 9, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Little & Sons Funeral Home, Beech Grove Chapel, where the funeral will follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at Acton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Acton Baptist Church or to your favorite charity.
