Zelma Norman Williams, 87, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2024. Zelma was born November 25, 1936, to George Alva Norman and Bessie Pearl Wood-Norman in Skelton, WV and grew up in Prosperity. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in May of 1954 and married Earl H. Williams on June 29, 1957 in Mt. Hope. They had 2 children, Michael and Richard.
Zelma worked during the 50's at Beckley Manufacturing in Skelton and later worked for and retired as a cashier at Food Fair Grocery in Virginia Beach, VA. Zelma and Earl lived in Norfolk and Virginia Beach, VA for 35 years before moving back to Beckley when Earl retired.
Zelma was active with both the Woodrow Wilson High School and Prosperity Community Reunion Committees. She was an avid reader and puzzle solver.
Zelma was predeceased by her husband Earl, son Michael, daughter-in-law Nancy, sisters Elsie Faye Adkins and Margaret Kountz, brothers Thomas Edward, William Alanzo, George Edwin and infant brother Fredrick Earl Norman.
Left to cherish her memory are her son Richard; daughter-in-law Deborah; Michael and Deborah's children Michael Jr. and Leslie; Leslie's significant other Chinell Scott and her son, Christopher Lopez Jr., and a host of extended relatives and loving friends.
A memorial service / celebration of life will be held on September 15, 2024, 1:00 p.m. at Dry Hill Prosperity Community Park, 1829 Maxwell Hill Rd Beckley, WV.
