William McDowell Radford, 92, of Beckley, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, April 23, 2016 following a long illness. He is the son of the late William Radford and Nora Arndt Radford. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Born June 5, 1923 in Beckley, West Virginia. William was a born again Christian and a member of Stanaford Missionary Baptist Church. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII and the Korean War. He attended Teel Elementary, Woodrow Wilson High School and Beckley College. He was a previous coal miner and barber. He also worked in an auto body shop at Skelton Wrecking. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and golfing.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Bernath Radford; grandson, Kenneth Radford; three brothers and three sisters.
Those left to cherish his memory includes sons, Michael Radford of SC, Steven Radford of Mabscott and William Radford of MD; daughters, Theresa Wilson and husband Larry of KY and Nora Radford of Ghent; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Friends may gather with the family Wednesday, April 27, 2016 from 11-1 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held 1pm, Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at the funeral home with Pastor George Wood officiating.
Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with Donnie McCoy, Steven Criss, R.D. Calhoun, Tony Corbin and Dean Bailey serving as pallbearers.
