William Alfred Hurst Jr.

Born March 3, 1951 in Beckley, WV, he was the son of the late, William A. Hurst, Sr. and Jo Ann Haynes Hurst.

Mr. Hurst spent his childhood years in Beckley and attended Woodrow Wilson High School. As soon as he graduated in 1969, he couldn’t wait to get his feet in the sand somewhere. He lived in beautiful locations throughout the years; Key West, Orlando, Hilton Head and Myrtle Beach. He spent his later years at home in Beckley, WV entertaining his best friend, his mother.

While making his home near beautiful beaches, he worked as a chef, bartender, tiki bar owner, and sold insurance/time shares. Anything he could do to be near the party, is where he made his living. He was an amazing cook, could make a mean drink, and sell ice to an eskimo. He cherished his sister and entire family and made it known to each of them.

His brother Thomas Haynes Hurst Sr. preceded him in death. Survivors include his sister, Sue Ann Baber and his favorite brother in law, Roddy of Beckley, WV. Two Nieces; Toni Hurst Luttrell (George) and Angela Hurst Casey (Jerry) and Three Nephews; Thomas Haynes Hurst Jr., (All of Murfreesboro, TN) William Casey Baber (Amber) of Beckley, WV and Christopher Thomas Kelly Baber (April) of Beckley, WV. Four Great Nieces; Allie Kimbrough, Avery Casey, Mia Hurst and Tegan Baber and Five Great Nephews; Garrett Truett, Talan Baber, Hatcher Casey, Coda Casey and Tate Baber. An uncle and many cousins with whom he was very close and a very special friend, Karen Roberts.

In recent years, Billy Wonder had made his way back to Little River, SC to enjoy his time near his true love, the ocean.

Services will be 2:00pm on Saturday, April 8th, 2023 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley. Entombment will be in Sunset Park Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will be receiving friends from 12:00pm to 2:00pm. Pallbearers will be Roddy Baber, Casey Baber, Chris Baber, George Luttrell, Garrett Truett, and Talan Baber.
