William Richard Coughlin, 89, of Crab Orchard, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2020 at Beckley Appalachian Region Hospital. Born on February 5, 1931 in Lawton, WV, he was the son of the late Houston William Coughlin and Sadie Blanche Grimmett Coughlin.
William was an avid golfer and bowler for over 5o years. Everyone in the golfing community knew William. He was a veteran of the United State Army having served during the Korean War.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death his wife of 55 years, Frances L. Atkins Coughlin; son, James Franklin Coughlin; sister, Betty Jean Dolinger; and brother, Clinton Coughlin.
Those left to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy include his children, Autumn Coughlin, Tina Coughlin, and William Richard Coughlin, II and his wife, Tammy; grandchildren, Sarah Coughlin and her companion Phillip Henson, and Nick Brown; great-grandchildren, Kira Henson and Lilleigh Henson; and sisters, Janet Hyer and husband, Marshall, and Reta Butler.
A graveside service with Military Honors will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at 12pm in the Garden of The Last Supper with Pastor Gary Bowers officiating.
For those who wish, the graveside service for Mr. Coughlin will be via Facebook Live on Blue Ridge Funeral Home & Memorial Garden’s Facebook page beginning at 11:55 am.
In accordance with the CDC, the family of Mr. Coughlin and the staff of Blue Ridge Funeral Home requests that facial covering are worn and social distancing is practiced at the graveside service.
