Wayne Elmer Cox

Wayne Elmer “Snake” Cox, 69 left his earthly body and gained his life in heaven on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 after fighting many health battles. Wayne was of Baptist Faith. He was born August 23, 1951 in Beckley, WV to the late David Allen Cox and Ora Louise Cox.

Wayne earned his GED while serving in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. Some of his hobbies included hunting, fishing, working as a mechanic, western movies, and the great outdoors.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two sons, Donald Ray Cox and David Wayne Cox.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Kathy J. Cox; daughters, Jennifer McClure and husband Jay, Crystal Sears and husband Jeff; son, Benji Cox; brothers, Dean Cox and wife Vicky, Robert Cox, Eddie Cox and wife Annette, Randy Cox and wife Deteria, Stephen Cox and wife Rebecca, Richard Cox and wife Sheila; sisters, Martha Richmond and husband Elton, Sarah Massey and husband Eddie; grandchildren, Brooklynn McClure, Bryce McClure, Gage Worley, Kaitlynn Johnson, Faith Sears, Hunter Sears, Garrett Sears, Alisha Cox, Jatana Cox, David Wayne Cox, Savannah Workman, Little Ben, Alexius Cox, and Andrew Cox; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at Blue Ridge Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at 2pm. Friends may gather with the family from 12-2pm.

Burial will follow at Cox’s Cemetery - 368 Cox’s Lane, Arnett, WV 25007.

In keeping with CDC guidelines all guests are required to wear facial coverings at all times within the facility.
