Thomas David “Tom” Staton, 90 of Beckley, West Virginia, formerly of Princeton and Mullens, West Virginia, passed away on January 4, 2023. Thomas was born July 20, 1932 in Mullens, West Virginia to the late Russel Carl Staton and Bertha Webb Staton Harmon. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Patricia Ann Courington Staton; two brothers, Jack Warren Staton, killed in action in 1944 during WWII; W.R. ‘Bob” Staton; sister Charlotte “Peggy” Baker; two nephews and one niece.
Thomas was a graduate of Mullens High School and Beckley College. He was a veteran of the Korean War and after returning home to Mullens, he taught school. He later worked as a salesman for his sister’s business, Baker Sanitary Supply, in Princeton, WV.
Thomas loved spending time with his family, friends, and loved attending his high school reunions.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Robert Edward “Bob” Staton and wife Beth Pritchett; Patricia Gwyndolyn “Gwyn” Staton; Thomas Gregory “Greg” Staton and wife Deborah Ann; four grandchildren, Charles Robert “Chardy” Staton; Patrick Thomas Staton; Mariah Santana Bailey and husband Aaron; Sydnee Grae Small and husband Ryan, two great grandchildren; Maris Ann Jane Bailey, Michael Legend Small and one on the way; three step grandchildren, Samantha; Jackson; grandchildren; Nevaeh; Bristol; Benson; Kylynn; Katie Barlow, Haylee Barlow, six step great grandchildren and Dion’tae; two sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
In keeping with his wishes Thomas was cremated. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
