Born June 30, 1932 in Pax, WV he was the son of the late Roy Humphrey and Lucy Treadway Humphrey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife “The Love of His Life” Jerre Hackney Humphrey; sisters, Irene Price, Joann Pannell, Mable Price, Rita Jean Turner and Rosalie Treadway; and brothers, Aubrey Humphrey and Lloyd Humphrey.
Those left to cherish his memory include: sons Mike (Jo) of King, North Carolina, Jeff (David) of Knightdale, North Carolina; granddaughter Emily Neel (Chuck) of Danbury, North Carolina; great grandchildren Lucy Neel and Carden Neel; sister-in-law Marilyn Henderson (Carl); many nieces, nephews and friends; as well as Ozzie.
Ted had been retired for several years from Vecellio & Grogan where he had worked for over 30 years driving a tractor trailer hauling heavy equipment in West Virginia and surrounding states. He was an Army veteran, serving during the late 40s and early 50s. He always enjoyed doing yard work, making repairs around the house, helping his family and friends and “piddling” in his garage.
Per Ted’s request, no service will be held.
The family would like to thank Hospice for all the care and compassion they showed to the family during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations of sympathy be made in Ted’s name to Hospice of Southern West Virginia 454 Cranberry Drive Beckley WV, 25801.
