Thella Lilly Shrewsberry

Thella Mae Lilly Shrewsberry, age 90, passed away on February 2, 2015, at Raleigh General Hospital. She was born on February 29, 1924, in Elverton, WV, the daughter of the late Leonard and Beatrice Williams. Thella graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and worked a number of years as a Bookkeeper for the American Red Cross in Alexandria, Virginia and Orkin Exterminating Company in Fairfax, Virginia. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Trinity Baptist Church, where she volunteered with the nursery. Thella was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Henry Robert Lilly and Rondo M. Shrewsberry, her granddaughters, Barbara J. Pate and Patricia A. Fields & her brother, Curtis R. Williams. Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved children, Robert W. Lilly, Myra Jo Simpson and her husband Bill, Susan S. Utt and her husband Bill, Deborah C. Bennett, Thella B. Brittingham & Carla J. Benfield and life partner Danny Graham; her dear step-children, Roger Shrewsberry and wife Rheda & Cathy Allen and her husband Raymond; her numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren & great great grandchildren; and her caring sister, Margaret Wheeler. Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 2pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 5251 Robert C. Byrd Drive, Beckley with burial to immediately follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral services from 1-2pm at the funeral home on Friday.
