Sharon LaFon Toney “Mama”, age 70, of Christiansburg, VA passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at her home in Christiansburg, VA. Born on April 18, 1949 in Beckley, WV, she was the daughter of the late Cecil Atkins and Mildred Maynor Oakes.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Wayne Toney; grandparents, Robert and Artie Maynor; grandchildren, Daniel and Maurice White; and half-brothers and half-sisters, Brien Gardner, Greg Gardner, Mollie Hughes and Jackie Atkins.
She is survived by her daughter, Kristi White; son, Rickie Toney; grandchildren, Brien White and Krissy White; her granddaughter by love, Caitlin Williams; several other grandchildren who thought of her as “Mama”; and half-brothers and half-sisters, Cheryle, Kevin, Johnny, Debra, Dreama, Vicky, Margaret and Janice.
Sharon had a tender and warm heart who had a passion for raising children.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm, Sunday, May 12, 2019 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral home with Ronnie Williams officiating. Burial will be held in the Garden of Prayer of Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
