Sara Foster Meadows

She was born April 4, 1945, in Raleigh County, the daughter of Phil and Frances Simmons. She was a 1963 graduate of Hinton, WV High School. She lived in Hinton, WV and Lake Placid, FL before returning to Beckley, WV in 2019.

She was married to Phillip “Sonny” Meadows for 28 years.

She was a devout Christian and a member of Powley’s Creek Church in Hinton, WV.

Professionally, she worked in various retail positions in the Hinton, WV area, retiring from Summers County Schools as a cook.

She is survived by her husband Phillip “Sonny” Meadows of Beckley, WV; Two sons, Charles A. Foster of Granite Falls, NC; Michael W. Foster and his wife Lisa of Winchester, VA. Five stepchildren, Phillip Meadows of Hilldale, WV; Kendra Meadows of Beckley, WV; Marcy Kinder of Charleston, WV; Dyneal Garten of Talcott, WV and Legay Basham of Talcott, WV. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Her first husband, Jasper C. Foster of Hinton, WV, and three sisters Wilma Jean Simmons Campbell of Woodbridge, VA; Luzana Simmons Howard of Dale City, VA; and Edna Phyllis Simmons Allen of Botetourt, VA, preceded her in death.

A celebration of life and graveside service will be held at a later date at Rolls Chapel Church in Forest Hill, WV where she will be buried beside her first husband, Jasper C. Foster.
