On January 19, 2023, Russell Edward Sears became a citizen of heaven at the age of 80. Russell was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was the last surviving charter member of the Glen White Church of God, which he was proud to serve as the Sunday School Superintendent for many years. Russell had a love for the outdoors and loved hunting and fishing. He was the Patriarch of the family , the one we all turned to and he will be forever missed.
Born March 17, 1942 in Glen White, WV to the late Edward and Irene Sears. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Sandra Ella Sears; his brothers, Daniel Sears (Mary), Jerry “Clinton” Sears (Nancy) and his sister, Ruth Ann Meadow (Dane). He was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Paul Permelia and sisters-in-law, Wanda Martin Howard and Freida Wilson.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Rene Sears Bailey (Richard) of Glen White, WV, son, Eddie Sears (Teena) of China Grove, NC; grandsons, Joshua Deweese, Brian Turbeville and Seth Turbeville (Emily); granddaughters, Alishia Austin (Christian), Cassidy Sears, and Paige Palmer (Grayson); sister, Connie Permelia; brothers, Vernon Sears (Linda) and Timmy Sears (Pat); and a host of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by very close family friends, Bill, Drema, Beverly, Billy, and Theresa Vaught.
Services will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 1:00PM with Bishop Jess Farley and Pastor Vernon Sears officiating at Glen White Church of God. The family will receive visitors from 12PM until time of the service. Close family and friends will serve as Pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of Southern West Virginia in his name.
