It is with broken hearts that we announced the sudden and unexpected passing of Roy Barber Jr. He was a devoted father, a cherished husband, loving pastor, brother, uncle and dear friend to so many. He had a pastors’ heart and it was manifested in so many ways. Only eternity will reveal the impact he had and the difference he made in the lives of so many.
He leaves behind a legacy of strength, love, and compassion. Our lives will never be the same without him, and the ache of his absence is immeasurable.
He pastored the First Church of God in White Sulphur Springs, WV for 12 years and also was employed by Greenbrier County Schools.
Roy was born April 21, 1949, to his parents, the late Roy C. Barber Sr and Edith Faye Barber of Beckley, WV.
In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by Karen Hedrick (sister) of Garner, NC.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 45 years Juanita Cook Barber, son Chuck, 2 sisters-Carol Gardner and Doris Baldwin (Dean) of Garner, NC, 2 brothers in law-Phillip Hedrick and Mike Cook, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and tons of friends and colleagues.
Funeral services for Roy will be on Tuesday, April 22nd, 2025, at 1PM at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. He will be laid to rest following the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
